LEAF PICK UP 2013
Fort Mill Public Works is now collecting leaves curbside and there are two methods available:
1. Loose or Piles of leaves located along the curb of your residence - While our leaf crews make every attempt to stay on schedule this method doesn’t ensure that your leaves will be removed on your scheduled collection day.
2. Bagged leaves at curbside - This method helps ensure that your leaves are collected weekly.
Leaves typically fall in October and November. During this timeframe and well into December our crews are removing the “bulk” of the leaves. Leaves will be picked up into March. We ask for your patience during this time. We will collect your leaves as soon as possible.
ANNOUNCEMENT FROM PUBLIC WORKS, EFFECTIVE MARCH 28, 2011:
EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY: It is against the law for the Town of Fort Mill Public Works Department to collect Computer Monitors, Televisions and Printers as well as parts of any of these items for disposal at the York County Landfill. Town residents will be required to dispose of these items at any of the 16 York County Collection and Recycling Centers. York County has two locations in Fort Mill along US Highway 160, one near the Village of Baxter (across from Wendy’s and Harris Teeter) and one across from the Leroy Springs Recreation Complex. For any specific disposal questions regarding this state law please visit www.scdhec.gov/e-cycle or contact York County Landfill at 803-628-3186.
The Public Works Department is dedicated to offering effective and efficient services that promote a better quality of life along with a safe and friendly atmosphere for our citizens, visitors, and employees.
Contact Duke Energy here to report a street light that is out.
Any street issues should be reported to 547-7158.
We operate Monday - Friday. Items are picked up the same day as Garbage. We will remove tree limbs and debris that have been cut and moved to the road by the resident. Items such as appliances, furniture, cardboard boxes, etc., will be removed the same day. Construction material (i.e. building wood, fences, concrete, etc…) or any material placed by a Contractor will not be removed by the town.
We own four cemeteries: Unity, Old Unity, Greenhill and Macedonia Cemeteries. Unity Cemetery is patrolled for damaged, faded, out-of-compliance items twice each year and those items are removed. Flowers that are new or are in good shape are not affected by the clean-up.
